Hanna is located near the Sheerness Power Generating Station, which produces 780 megawatts of coal- and natural gas-fired electricity for the province of Alberta. In addition to energy, Hanna is a strong agricultural hub, with cattle ranching and dryland grain farming leading the way. Hanna is a regional hub located at the junction of highway #9 connecting Calgary to Saskatoon and highway #36 connecting to Brooks, and the Alberta Oilsands.
