Consort is a regional oil and gas hub, with Highway #41 connecting the Canada-US border to the Alberta oilsands. Dryland farming and livestock drive the economy as well, with a well-established auction market providing satellite auction capability and ranchers experienced in moving cattle to the customer. Inexpensive serviced commercial and industrial land is available for purchase or lease.
